Two major trends hamper political reforms: the opposition’s withdrawal from parliament and its calls to boycott elected institutions and bring down the legitimately-elected government and the nomination of people without necessary job experience and expertise to top government positions.

Positive economic trends in 2017 to 2019 include robust growth, which contributed to a modest increase in employment and the reduction of poverty. Fiscal governance also improved in terms of both budget deficit and budget incomes, despite remaining shortages of assigned targets.
