Mongolia remains a stable democracy with competitive elections, broad participation and an active civil society. The 2024 parliamentary election increased political pluralism, although corruption, elite influence and inconsistently enforced civil rights continue to constrain the rule of law. Constitutional changes allowing dual mandates have weakened institutional checks, but democratic structures remain functional.

Economic performance improved due to strong growth, fiscal stability and rising foreign investment. High inflation, persistent inequality and weak market regulation limit inclusive development. Property rights are unevenly enforced, and infrastructure and basic services show gaps, while continued reliance on coal undermines environmental sustainability.

Governance is constrained by structural challenges, fragmented administration and political interference. Policy coordination remains inconsistent and decision-making is shaped by elite interests. International cooperation is a key strength, reflecting constructive engagement with multilateral and regional partners, though limited administrative capacity restricts effective implementation.
